During the aftermath of the uprising in Baltimore following the death of Freddie Gray, protests, peace rallies and gatherings broke out for several months across the city. At this rally for peace, hundreds of Baltimore residents from various faith communities came together to pray, speak words of encouragement to the people of Baltimore. The message was clear--major reform is strongly needed in our city.
While at the rally, I began capturing some pivotal moments but the one that moved me the most was when I saw an little boy carrying a sign that read, "I matter". After all the praying, chanting, clapping and cheering and crying, it seemed that's all that really mattered--a child knowing his own value.
